The Antescofo Monitor Panel can be made visible by selecting the Antescofo Monitor.. item from the Tools/Score Following menu. This panel contains a display area that is divided into two sections. There is a time line (in seconds) along the bottom of the panel that shows the time from the beginning of the performance that events were tracked or triggered. The + and - buttons located at the bottom left corner of the panel change the horizontal scale of the display so you can view more or less time in the panel.
The top area displays notes that are "perceived" by antescofo when it is tracking a live performance. These appear as noteheads with horizontal bars to show the length of the note. The key of the display can be altered using the slider located in the top-right corner of the panel. As well, there are two buttons located on the left side of the panel that allow you to switch between displaying a single staff (with a treble clef) and a grand staff (with a treble and bass clef).
- If you want to change the key remotely, you can pass the network message setKey n (where n has the value of -7 to +7) to the Antescofo Monitor.
- The divider between the upper and lower areas of the score can be adjusted by dragging the black circle located at the left side of the divider line.
- The round button in the top-left corner of the panel shows that the Antescofo Monitor is running. Click on this button to stop the Atnescofo Monitor. You do not need to start the Antescofo Monitor since it will start automatically when the first network message is received.
The bottom area of the display shows any Group (GFWD) action messages that were triggered by antescofo. These appear as colored circles, with each action belonging to the same Group appearing on the same horizontal area. All Top Level actions (i.e. actions that are not part of a group) appear in the top horizontal area. Additional lines are created as needed.
All Action messages can be viewed in a drawer that can be displayed on the left side of the panel. To make the drawer visible, click on the << button. The Time, name, message, and father (group) name are displayed in the drawer. As well, when you place the mouse cursor over one of the circles in the Monitor panel, the corresponding data in the drawer will be highlighted.>
Saving and Loading Data
Once a performance has finished, you can save the performance by clicking on the Save button. Antescofo Monitor Data files have the extension .asd. If you want to load a previously saved file, click on the Load button and located the file. If you want to save the data in a text file where it can be viewed and printed, click on the Print button.
The Network Settings used by the Antescofo Monitor are controlled by the Network Port Panel which allows you to set the incoming port and protocol (TCP or UDP) as well as the outgoing address, port, and udp method (either netrecieve or updreceive). You should have either a netreceive (set to UDP) or a udpreceive object in MaxMSP or Pd set to the specified port. Outgoing messages are triggered by the buttons located at the top of the panel. These buttons are designed so that you can control antescofo remotely. If you are using the Antescofo Monitor for monitoring purposes only, then you do not need to concern yourself with the outgoing messages.
Network Message Format
In the current version of Antescofo Monitor, the following messages can be sent:
For outgoing messages the buttons at the top of the panel send out the following message;
